Mahila Ashram an organisation working for women education was founded by Lok Nayak Sri Manikya Lal Verma first PM of United Rajasthan and Maa Narayani Devi Verma on 14th November 1944. Shrimati Sushila Devi Mathur PG Girls College is a woman Education College of Mahila Ashram Group of Institutions, which is conducting professional postgraduate and graduate degree courses. The college was launched in 2003, to provide quality and value based professional education in the area of Science, Home Science, Commerce, Computer Science, Biotechnology, Information Technology and other emerging disciplines.
College offers a wide range of courses in all streams which enables students to participate in different areas of competitions. To monitor the academic progress of the students SDM conducts Pre University exams once in a year. The exam and paper pattern is typically based on University pattern. These exams are just like the preparatory papers before final examinations, which helps students to evaluate themselves. The performance of students in these exams encourages them for better results in the final exams.
To ensure academic discipline among students, the attendance particulars and internal marks are communicated to their concerned parents from time to time in PTM’s. Extra classes are also arranged for the benefit of below average students. Student – teacher interaction session is also held in 15 days once, to identify and resolve the problems of the students.
The students at SDM get ample opportunities to use their creativity and develop their talents. SDM organizes various sports and cultural programmes, literary events, presentations of technical papers, seminars etc. ‘Ankur’ the Inter College cultural and literary week is celebrated once in a year in the college. Students enthusiastically participate in the various competitions as solo dance, group dance, duet dance, fashion show, singing competitions, rangoli mehndi, cooking competitions, painting and many literary competitions as debate, essay, quiz, GK, extempore, poetry recitation, GD etc. These cultural and literary activities enhance the confidence level of students, thereby allowing them to perform better. To promote and motivate the students, various prizes and certificate are given to them.
During the Corona pandemic SDM has provided online classes to continue the urge of teaching and learning. College has organised many faculty and student development programmes and workshops for students and staff through Google meet and Zoom.
The goal of SDM is to teach each and one, to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the main motto of SDM.
